I think one big advantage of the proper mesh version of the facelift grille is that if the basic badge is a tad boring, you can change the badge to whichever you like, such as a green background 3.0 Sport badge (from an S-Type) for a nice little detail. Regarding tuning, the X-Type isn't exactly ideal for that.

These cars need a tip top battery,so my first investigation would be to make sure the battery was perfect.It may seem daft but with a problem battery all sorts of codes and warning lights seem to show on the S-type. Install and tighten the IMT valve securing bolts. Reposition harness and connect the IMT valve electrical connector. Remove fender protection covers and close hood. Install a new lower IMT valve O-ring seal. Open hood and install fender protection covers. Disconnect battery (see Workshop Manual, section: 414-01).
Battery Warning Light On! It came on as soon as I started the engine after a 24 hour stop. Decent drive and switch off and restart - but the light comes back. It had a replacement alternator last year (Refurbished and prob out of guarantee :argh: ) and checking the output with OBD device shows 13.6 / 7 Volts (steady).
